Isn’t this absolutely beautiful – the earth, mapped in Sir Isaac Newton’s gravity: not merely a physical constant, but robes of colour, not simply the old physical absolute, but something warped and moulded, exquisitely, by our own earthly reality.

But god, what an insight into God, from a mind, a human mind, of the seventeenth century!

What will the insights and discoveries of our own centuries (we straddle them, those of my generation) yield, now, and two and three centuries hence?
